Charlene Werna (Mathews) Somervell, 97, of Forney, Texas went to be with the Lord her Savior on July 27, 2013. She was a present from God on May 10, 1916 in Grapevine, Ark., to Charles Webster and Lala Lites Mathews. She married Charles Jade Somervell on May 20, 1941 in Sheridan, Ark. Charlene loved cooking, sewing and was always a gracious hostess. She was an Eastern Star and also a member of the VFW Auxillary in Metairie, La. From the age of 13 years old, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Sheridan, and, as an adult, Charlene was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Forney. Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Jade Somervell, sister Mildred Mathews Easterly, brother Dr. Travis Leander Mathews and grandson Michael Christopher Somervell. Those left to celebrate her life are children Stephen Owen Somervell and wife Betty of Steger, Ill., Barbara Jo Somervell Green and husband Charlie of Forney; and Margery Frances Somervell Cramton of Lakeland, Fla.; grandchildren Wendy Lee Somervell, Christopher Michael Somervell, Leonard Ted "Trey" Fowler, Charles Jason Green, Melissa Rose Green Hinman, Kathryn Elise Green Shtylla, Stephen James Matthew Green, Ashley Rebekah Green Rideout, Natalie Marcella Greene, Kenny George Greene, Jr.; and Lauren Rae Cramton. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Dakota, Cheyenne, Christopher Michael "Bubby", Leslie, Johnathan, Riley, Cale, Shpresa, Eli, Jonathon, Julia Anne "Annie", Ben, Allison "Allie", Jace, Connor, Logan, and Kamden and her nieces, Marta Easterly Jones, Selma Easterly Fisher and Sally Mathews. Visitation will be Thursday, August 1 from 5-7 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan, Ark. and funeral service on Friday at 2 p.m., also at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan, Ark.
