Dr. John McLaurin Dodge was born August 28, 1932 in Ruston Louisiana. He was the son of Dr. and Mrs. John Louis Dodge. John graduated from Hot Springs High School, in Hot Springs, Arkansas and went on to graduate from Baylor University and Baylor Medical School. After completing a residency in OBGYN at University of Ark. for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, and serving two years in the Army, Dr. Dodge settled in Texarkana Texas with his wife and family, where he lived for over 40 years. Recently he and his wife moved back to Little Rock where they reside in Parkway Village Retirement Community. Dr. Dodge is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linnie Lou Murchison Dodge. He is also survived by two sons, John Dodge Jr. of Flower Mound Texas, and Ben Dodge of Conway, Ark. and two daughter-in-laws Shelly Dodge and Julie Dodge. He has seven grandchildren who lovingly called him "Sugar": Kate Perry and her husband Brandon, Laurin Dodge, John Dodge III, Drew Dodge, Nicole Dodge and Alexis Dodge, and many loved-ones and friends who will miss him. Dr. Dodge loved the Lord Jesus. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Texarkana, Texas where he served as a deacon. He was an active member of Gideons and participated in numerous oversea medical mission trips. He was an avid reader who also loved to duck hunt, fish, and snow ski. He departed this life July 31, 2013, one month shy of his 80th birthday. We rest in the knowledge that he is with Jesus and we will see him again in heaven. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 1 p.m., at the Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff Arkansas. Everyone is welcome to attend. Flowers may be sent to Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. (501) 224-8300. However, in lieu of flowers we know he would be so pleased if you would give Bibles in his memory through the Gideons International. Online guestbook:www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/chenal.
