Boyd Edwin Allinson

Boyd Edwin Allinson, age 84, of Bauxite, passed away on Aug. 2, 2013. He was born Sept. 28, 1928 in Sheridan; Ark. Boyd graduated from ASTC (now UCA) with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. While attending ASTC, he met the love of his life, Mary Jane Kidd. They married in 1951, and were married for 53 years. Boyd joined the US Army Air Force in 1946 and was stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1948. He again answered his nations call to duty by joining the US Navy and served during the Korean War on the USS Boxer Aircraft Carrier. He was the radio station manager in Mansfield, La. He worked as a salesman for NCR. He opened Allinson Real Estate as the principal broker for the rest of his professional career. Boyd was a member of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Beryl and Maureen Allinson. He loved his family, country, hunting, fishing, gardening, and music. He always had a big garden for sharing. Boyd loved hearing and sharing funny stories. He was known for his sense of humor. Survivors, wife, Neva Allinson; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Ginger Allinson, David and Paula Allinson; daughter and son-in-law, Gay and Derek Leaver; brother, Milan Allinson; grandchildren, Allison Leaver Hopper and husband, Wesley, Benton; Chelsea Leaver Pacheco and husband, Adrian, Benton; Haley Allinson and Jacob Allinson, both of Bauxite; Michael Allinson, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Marybeth Allinson, Little Rock; Mark Allinson, Benton; three great-grandchildren. The Allinson family would like to express their appreciation for the professional and compassionate care that he received from Saline Memorial Hospital, Baptist Cancer Center and Saline Hospice. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Ashby's. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan by Ashby Funeral Home. Minister will be Rev. Bill Cato.
