NORRIS WILMERTINE SURRENCY JONES, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 30, 2013. She was born in Blackshear, Ga., to the late Joseph and Leola (Tyson) Surrency. She was the oldest of four children; 3 brothers, Lawrence, Lorenzo, and Tyrone. Norris graduated from Lee Street High School in Blackshear, Ga. She attended and graduated from National School of Business in Nashville, Tenn. She retired from Federal Service in Dec. 1986. Norris accepted Christ at an early age at Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Blackshear, GA. She was a faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church since 1975. She served on the Finance Committee, Sunday School Teacher, and volunteered in the church bookstore. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Walter Jones for over 50 years. She leaves behind her loving husband, Walter Jones of Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Lawrence. She leaves behind her daughter, Maxine (Glenn) Smith of Conway, Ark. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Glennesia (John) Skipper of Conway, Ark..; Tamara (Landon) Brethouwer of Frankfurt, Germany; Joseph Smith II of Omaha, Neb.; Jeran Smith of Conway, Ark.; and William Smith of Omaha, Neb. She also leaves five great-grandchildren, Michael and Reanna Profit and Savannah Skipper all of Conway, Ark.; Zein and Zaiden Brethouwer of Frankfurt, Germany. She also leaves grieving two brothers, Lorenzo (Shirley) of Queens, N.Y. and Tyrone (Gale) of Brooklyn, N.Y. Her longtime best friend, Vivian Armstrong of Little Rock is left to cherish her memory; along with a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. Family Hour is Monday, August 5, 6–7 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth, 5800 West 12th Street, Little Rock. Her life will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 2501 S. Main Street, Little Rock.
