Emmett Stearns

Mr. Emmett Burns Stearns, 78, of Harding Place, formerly of Bradford, departed this life on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013. He was born Jan. 7, 1935 in Egypt, Ark., the son of Darwin Ephran Stearns and Mary Alice (Burns) Stearns Henson. He married Miss Faye Elizabeth Black on Dec. 17, 1956, and they enjoyed 56 years together. He was a graduate of Egypt High School. Mr. Stearns was a United States Navy veteran, and life member of the Disabled Vets. After serving his country, Mr. Stearns worked at Victor Metal until retiring after 41 years of service. He was an active member of the Bradford Church of Christ, and enjoyed fishing, watching football, gardening, and especially talking to family and friends. Mr. Stearns was preceded in death by his mother; his father; one daughter, Dee East; two brothers, Roger and James Stearns; and one sister, Lela Stearns. He is survived by his wife, Faye Stearns; two sons, Michael Stearns and wife Rhonda of Cabot and Dennis Stearns and wife Julie of Searcy; one step-daughter, Debbie Anselmi of Bald Knob; three brothers, Louis Stearns and wife Gail of Bono, Donnie Henson of Calif., and Jerry Henson of Calif.; one sister, Fern Stearns; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, from 10-11 a.m. Graveside services to celebrate his life will follow in Heard Cemetery in Bradford at 11:30 a.m. The family would like to thank Hospice Home Care, White County Hospital, Dr. Gregory Bienvenu, and all the wonderful people and staff at Harding Place.
