Dalene Ann "Dee" Lauderdale, 70, of North Little Rock departed this life on Saturday, August 3, 2013. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on October 8, 1942 to Elwood and Bertha Sellens. She was the oldest of three children. She was married to the late Bill Lauderdale for 45 wonderful years. Shortly after, he was transferred from Wichita, Kansas to Little Rock where they made their home. She always wanted to be a teacher and had a love for art. Her dream job came true as she became an art teacher starting out on the road in surrounding states, then at several Hobby Lobby stores. She very much enjoyed being able to teach others how to draw, paint and sculpt, as well as watching her students learn and explore their talents. She also enjoyed life itself, cooking with her grandchildren and spending time with her family. She is survived by her mother, Bertha Sellens, of Salina, Kansas; her only child, Scott (Angela) of North Little Rock; step daughter, Reba Whalen (Mike); step son, Michael Lauderdale (Lorraine) all of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Scotty, Evonne, Jacye and Jacob Lauderdale, all of North Little Rock, Michael, Robyn, Jason and Sarah, all of Wichita, Kansas; 10 great-grandchildren and several extended family as well. She is preceded in death by her father; sister, Anita; brother, Darrel and her husband. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arkansas Heart Foundation, 909 West 2nd Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201 or Arkansas Kidney Foundation, 1818 North Taylor, Ste. 186, Little Rock, Arkansas 72207. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Friday at North Little Rock Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
