Wanella Kate McAllister Rippy, 89, beloved mother and friend to many, of Little Rock, Arkansas died Tuesday, August 6th, 2013 in Conway Arkansas after a long struggle with cancer. She was born in Pine Bluff on March 11, 1924 to James Thomas and Clara Leigh McAllister. Wanella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Major James Rippy her twin sister Wanita McAllister, younger sister Charlotte McAllister Kolb and brother Dr. James Thomas McAllister. Mrs. Rippy was an active member of St. Luke Methodist Church and spent many years supporting Gold Star Wives and Meals on Wheels Association. She was a graduate of Sheridan High School and Hendrix College. Wanella is survived by her daughter Paula Rippy Binns of Benton and her son Dr. James Rippy of Conway. Wanella had 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. A special thanks to granddaughter, Nicole, for the tender care she provided in her final months. Also, to the dedicated Baptist Hospice Health team. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday August 9th, 2013 at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth on 12th street. Visitation will be Friday August 9th from 12 to 1 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke Methodist Church in Little Rock.
