John Zepherino O'Brien III, 78, of Osceola entered into rest Tuesday, August 6, 2013 in Osceola. Born Saturday, January 5, 1935 in Blytheville, Ark. to the late John Zepherino O'Brien II and Mary Louise Scott O'Brien, he was a member and lifetime deacon of First Baptist Church in Osceola for 38 years and retired after 23 ½ years of service in the United States Navy Medical Corps, as a Lt. Commander/Hospital Administrator. He is survived by his wife of 58 years and two months, Lou O'Brien of Osceola; one son, Michael Allen O'Brien (Phyllis Joy) of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Kim Atkinson (Rick) of Johnsonville, S.C.; six grandchildren, Chris Fox, Brien Fox, Hollie Petry, Stacie Ogburn, Michael O'Brien II, and Marcus O'Brien; 17 great-grandchildren; one sisters, Mary Louise Patton of Ann Arbor, Mich.; one brother, Captain George Eugene O'Brien of Virginia Beach, Va. and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Osceola, Arkansas. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Osceola. Burial will be held in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens.
