Bertha Mae Gooden Barnes, 95, of Scott, Ark., slept away on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013 in North Little Rock, Ark. in the presence of two of her loving daughters, Kate and Vickie. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Barnes; three children, Eula "Sue" Collins, Rufus J. and Napoleon P. Barnes; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Cecilia Steele, Massie Swift and Ruth Shaw; and one brother, Napoleon Jones. Memories of her will be shared by her children, Erma J. Carter, Katheryn A. Young, Brenda C. Guest of Little Rock, Vickie L. Baxley of North Little Rock; Gwendolyn C. Anderson of Gold Bar, Wash., Anthony M. Barnes Sr. of Tacoma, Wash.; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
