Garry Lee Turner, age 68, of Kenwood, Ark., passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013. He was born Oct. 8, 1944, in Morrilton, Ark., a son of the late Carl Turner and Louise Lemley Turner. He graduated from Morrilton High School in 1963, was a graduate of Petit Jean VoTech, a member of the Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church, and a charter member of the Blackwell/Kenwood Fire Department; where he was Assistant Chief. He was retired from Green Bay Packaging-Pine Crest Lumber after 33 years. He was a loving husband, dedicated father, grandparent, and avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his son, Paul Turner and Sheri of Kenwood; daughter, Sandy Turner Miller and Terry of Center Ridge; two granddaughters, Lindsey Turner of Morrilton and Anna Miller of Center Ridge; two brothers, Jim Turner and Gail of Atkins, and Mike Turner and Sharon of Hattieville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy Young Turner. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at the Harris Chapel with burial at Atkins City Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Blackwell/Kenwood Fire Department. Pallbearers will be Robert Stobaugh, Bob Ramsey, Kylan Cooper, William Turner, Donnie Russell, and Lynn Young.
