Billy Ray Rose

Billy Ray Rose, 87, died August 21, 2013. Billy Ray was born April 3, 1926 to the late John Walter and Mollie Futrell Rose in Vanndale, AR. He was the youngest of 6 children, Walter (Bud) Rose, Avis Fitzgerald, Ruth Williams, Lucille Caldwell, and Laverne Cox, all of whom preceded Billy Ray in death. Billy Ray is survived by his wife of 57 years, Graple Moye Rose of Wynne, one son, Billy Ray (Skipper) Rose II, Wynne, daughter and son in law, Jerri Jo and Milton Tackett of Versailles, KY. Three grandchildren, Mollie Rose of Wynne, Greg Tackett of Savannah, Ga., and Jay Tackett of Versailles, Ky. also survive. Billy Ray retired in 1991 to his first love - the outdoors. He could be found fishing, hunting, trapping, or gardening on any given day. He loved his time with nature and supported a variety of wild game organizations. He provided guidance and knowledge to young outdoorsmen on the sanctity of the game and it's purpose in the communion of men and nature. He was employed as a farm equipment salesman for Norsworthy and Wofford, John Deere dealer, for most of his career. Billy Ray's initial employment was for Borden Milk as a truck driver. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Wynne Masonic Lodge; a 50 year member of the Lodge, receiving lifetime membership recognition. He was a member of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church. Before Billy Ray entered the world of work, he served his county in the United States Army fighting in the Philippines during World War II. The family would like to extend a special thank you the staff of Crestpark Skilled Nursing facility for the love, care, and genuine concern it provided to Billy Ray and his family during the final months of his life. Graveside service will be held Friday, August 23, 2013 at 10 AM at Cogbill Cemetery with J E Hughes and Wayne Baldwin officiating; Kernodle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation is Thursday, August 22, 2013, 5 to 7 p.m. at Kernodle Funeral Home.
