Elveta Dixon Dodds, 78, of Pine Bluff passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 2, 1934 in Glendale, Ark.; the daughter of the late Luther Dixon and Helen Hankins Dixon. Elveta graduated from Glendale High School in 1952. She then went on to graduate from Business School in Pine Bluff. She worked for many years as a secretary and office professional at several Pine Bluff businesses including Boyce Insurance Agency, First South Savings & Loan, JRMC Medical Records, Lin Nixon Realty, Bridges Law Firm and Nixon Ophthalmology. Mrs. Dodds was a long-time member of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Dodds, who died in Dec. 2012. The two became high school sweethearts at the ages of 15. They married in 1954 and enjoyed 58 years together. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie (Steve) Erskine of Lake Jackson, Texas and Melinda (Mark) Mayo of Little Rock; grandchildren, Laura Nichols, Peter Erskine and Micaela Erskine; step-grandson, Derek Mayo; great-grandson, Easton Nichols. Although Elveta had no siblings, she had several brothers and sisters-in-law whom she loved dearly and considered her family. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Roger Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery by Robinson's.
