Jim David McClanahan, 79, of Maumelle passed away, Monday, August 26, 2013. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas on March 14, 1934, he was the son of the late Jim Fowler McClanahan and the late Hazel Loe McClanahan formerly of Sherwood, Arkansas. He was a retired U.S. Navy officer and was also retired from General Dynamics and Raytheon Corp. in Camden, Arkansas. He grew up at Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock and was a member until he joined the Navy in 1952. He and his wife, the former Doris Nora Hand of North Little Rock, returned to Immanuel in 1999 when they moved back to Little Rock from Camden. He loved to hunt, fish and play golf especially with his son and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. John H. McClanahan, formerly of Pine Bluff; and a sister, Anna L. McClanahan, formerly of North Little Rock. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Doris Hand McClanahan; a daughter, Kathy Jane Young and her husband, Paul of Little Rock, Arkansas; a son, Jim David McClanahan Jr. and his wife Linda, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; two granddaughters, Aubri Young Duran and her husband, Matthew, and Michelle Kathleen Young; and a grandson, Jim Ryan McClanahan. The visitation will be held at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock on Tuesday, August 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. with graveside funeral service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 28 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park with Rev.
