William F. "Bill" Black, 85 of Monticello passed away Tuesday, August 27 at the Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born April 7, 1928 to the late Dr. A.F. Black and Faye McArthur Black in Morrilton, Ark. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War having served as a flight instructor at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS and taught World War II Air Force Pilots how to fly by instruments. He was a Registered Forestry Consultant for Black Brothers Forestry Consultants, a firm which he and his twin brother founded. He was a member of Monticello First Baptist Church, an avid outdoorsman who loved wild turkey and duck hunting and was also a maker of men. He was also preceded in death by one son, William Charles Black; his twin brother, Charles Faye "Bud" Black and one grandson, Jeremy Black. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Bennie Jean Wilson Black of Monticello; one daughter, Lee Ann "Boo" Black of Monticello, Ark., two sons, Andy Black of Monticello and Mark Black of Rogers, Ark.; two grandsons, Will Black of Bossier City, La. and Ben Black of Monticello; one sister-in-law, Sybil Black of Monticello; one niece, Sherrie Black of Monticello and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 29 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with Rev. Harmon Cowart officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
