Vance Hogue Jr.

Vance B. Hogue Jr., age 84, of Benton, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013. He was born December 3, 1928 in Winchester, Arkansas. Mr. Hogue was retired from Arkansas Best Freight as an Over the Road Driver. He was a member of Dumas Methodist Church and a retired Teamster. Mr. Hogue was preceded in death by his parents, Vance B. Hogue Sr. and Ida Mae Brown Hogue; daughter, Jennie Hogue; six siblings, Florence Walton, Fred Hogue, Betty Lou Haisty, Emma Hogue, Viola Wheetley and Rita Hogue and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hogue. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Jean Hogue of Benton; three children, Betty Jo Taylor of St. Louis, Missouri, Johnny Hogue (Karen) of Kimberling City, Missouri and Judy Wooten of Benton; six grandchildren, Jennie Barron (Todd), John Hogue, Jr. (Caroline), Jason Taylor (Dalena), Travis Wooten, Allison Hogue and Kelsie Merrill (Travis); twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, brothers, David Hogue (Hazel), Redfield, Ark., Jim Hogue (Jerrianna), Redfield, Ark., Gary Hogue (Alma) Sheridan, Arkansas, sisters, Virginia Edington, Hot Springs, Mary Gantt, Livingston, Tenn., Lucille Wayson, Cookeville, Tenn., Olivia Kirkpatrick (Jerry) Mabelvale, Ark., Lynn Jones (Maxie) Harrison, Ark., and his beloved poodle, Pierre. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, August 27 at Ashby Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. Bro. Kim Hammer will be officiating.
