The decedent was born again in Feb. of 1964, and a member of Garrett Memorial Baptist Church of Hope, Ark., until she moved to Arkadelphia in 2009 and joined Baring Cross Missionary Baptist Church. While at Garrett Memorial, she was a Sunday School teacher for many years, served on the church's Building Committee, Secretary-Treasurer of the Cora May Auxiliary and worked in Vacation Bible School, Kidz Zone and Awana. While at Baring Cross, she co-taught a 2-3 year old Sunday School class, President of the Keenagers and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She attributed her salvation experience to the Sunday School ministry and her teachers. Mrs. Prescott graduated from Hope High School in 1954 as co-valedictorian. She attended Texarkana Business College and received a Legal Secretarial degree (with high honors.) True to her training, she worked as a legal secretary, mainly for the Graves & Graves Law Firm in Hope, for 45 years, and also a short time at the Hempstead County Abstract and Title Company. She loved grass roots politics and was a long-time member of the Hempstead County Republican Women. She was honored as Lioness of the year by the Hope Lioness Club on two occasions. Another love of her life was the Medical Park Hospital Auxiliary where she volunteered 13 years. She served as President several years and also as State Secretary of the Arkansas Hospital Auxiliary Association and Southwest District AHAA Secretary and Treasurer. She joined the auxiliary at Baptist Health Medical Center-Arkadelphia and currently served as Secretary. In 2005, she was named Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the year. She loved to cook for family and others and demonstrated that love over and over to her family, her friends and her church. Three of the highlights of her life included a trip to Israel in 1984, the adoption by her and her husband, Leon, of their daughter, Kathy Lynn, in 1970, and her adoption by her Heavenly Father upon her belief in His Son, Jesus Christ.
