JOHN RICHARD PROVENCE, 75, born Jan. 27, 1938 in Victoria, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013. He served six years in the Arkansas National Guard, 39th Aviation Unit. He spent 17 years as a band instrument repairman for Bean Music Co. Finally, after 33 years of service, Mr. Provence retired from Union Pacific Railroad where he worked as a machinist and Federal Inspector. Mr. Provence was an avid gardener with a wonderful greenhouse, in which he was growing a pineapple. He was also quite a handyman around his five acre "plantation" as he called it. As a busy type person, he started a lawnmower repair business (hobby) from his little shop, next to his home. He always enjoyed visiting with his friends and neighbors who brought their equipment in for repair. John is preceded in death by his father, I.E. Provence; mother, Florence Provence; sister, Donna Trammel; and brother-in-laws, Jimmy Trammel and Vern Vanlandingham. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Faye Provence; sister, Phyllis Nutt (AD); sons, Tim (Debbie), Eddie (Tammy), Doyle (Donna), and Darrell Young; grandchildren, Lisa (John), Lynnsee, Delana (Joseph), Vanessa, Michael, Mandy (Matt), Samantha, and Candice; five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at Buie Funeral Home with services concluding after the funeral service. Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in East End. The family would like to thank Arkansas Hospice for the special care they provided. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Sheridan. You may sign the guestbook at www.buiefuneralhome.com.
