Laurens Clark Hare

Laurens Clark Hare was born March 13, 1927 - Deceased November, 30, 2013. Larry was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Mildred Clark Hare and Robert Ritzinger Hare. He was the brother of Robert Ritzinger Hare, Jr., and Sally Hare (Fehribach), both deceased. Larry graduated from Indiana University, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He joined Reader's Digest magazine in the late 1950s in advertising sales in Detroit. He became head of the Detroit office before becoming the Director of International Sales in 1975. He retired from Reader's Digest in 1983. He was an accomplished skeet shooter, golfer, artist and an avid reader and piano player. He has two children from his first marriage, Laurens Tykle Hare (Lorrie Myers), and Laura Andrea Hare Lee (deceased), and two grandchildren, Rebecca Tykle Hare, and Laurens Alexander Hare. Plus, three step children, Barbara Walker Rushing (Nolan), Wythe Walker and Bradley Walker (Beth); two step-grandchildren, Rhea Rushing Frans (Kyle) and Bradley Prather Walker, and three step-great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Charlotte and Penelope. He is survived by his second wife, Barbara Walker-Hare. A private memorial will be held Saturday, Dec. 7 and the ashes interred later in Indianapolis.
