Marie Kindy Curlee Griffis, 88, of Little Rock, passed away December 4, 2013. She was born November 5, 1925 to William H. Kindy and Pearl Treadway Kindy. In 1944 she married William Bowen Curlee, and together they had one son, William B. Curlee. After he passed away, she subsequently married Orville Griffis in 1972. He passed away in 1990. She was a lifelong member of Word Aflame Church, working with children for several decades. The most important things in her life were her Church and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers Lloyd Kindy, James Kindy, and Johnnie Kindy, and sisters Edna Yarberry, Ola Faye Faulkner, and Pauline Deaton. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William B. and Phyllis R. Curlee of Westlake Village, Calif., two stepsons, Ronald Griffis and Melvin Griffis both of Little Rock, Ark., one grandson, Bret and wife Susan, of Monroe, Conn., two great-grandchildren and one brother, Robert Kindy and his wife Patti of Conroe, Texas. Friends may visit with the family from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, December 8 at Word Aflame Church, 7800 Interstate 30, Little Rock. A celebration of her life will follow at 2 p.m. at Word Aflame Church, with Rev. James G. Lumpkin, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Landmark Cemetery on Arch Street Pike. Arrangements are by Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Debbie Ferron for her untiring labor of love over the past four years. Without you we would not have been able to provide the care she required. Appreciation is extended to her pastor, Rev. James G. Lumpkin, Jr., for caring so much. We would also like to acknowledge the employees of Chenal Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation for accommodating her special needs, and the love extended by some of you. Finally, our sincere appreciation to Arkansas Hospice for the attention, care and love extended during the most difficult of days.
