Juanita McKenzie Baskin Barringer departed this life December 3, 2013 at the age of 91. Juanita was born in Whelen Springs, Arkansas in 1922 to Marve McKenzie Sr. and Annie McKenzie. Juanita was a 1939 graduate of Gurdon High School and completed a Bachelor degree and a Master of Education degree at Henderson State College, now Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She taught for 22 years at the Gurdon Primary School. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Joseph DeWitt Baskin and her brother, Marve McKenzie Jr. Juanita is survived by her second husband, Paul Barringer and her sisters Ann Bonita Calley of Gurdon, Arkansas and Mary Ella Ryan of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Juanita had three children who survive her and remember her lifelong devotion to her family. Her children are Mary Ann Frieling and her husband Tom of Evergreen, Colorado, James Baskin and his wife Nancy of Little Rock, Arkansas and Cathy Baskin and her husband Mike Greene of Sutter Creek, California. Juanita is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday December 9, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. till Service time at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Gurdon, Arkansas. Interment will follow in Rose Hedge Cemetery.
