DOROTHY COOKSEY BROWN, 75, of Little Rock transitioned peacefully into eternity Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013. She was a member of Pilgrim Progress Baptist Church-NLR. Dorothy had retired as a childcare worker and she loved to cook for her family. She was the eldest of 13 children born to Acie and Elnora Cooksey and the first of those siblings to reunite with their parents. She will be greatly missed by her loving daughter, Beverly Smith (Ronald); grandchildren, Erika Whitfield and Cory Smith; four great-grandchildren; and 12 siblings, Lucille, Patsy, Frank, Mary Ann, Ruby Jean, Faye, Ronnie, Billy (Martha), and Phillip (Alisa) Cooksey, Magnolia Phillips, Carolyn Dixon, and Joyce MacDaniel (J.C.); and two dearly devoted friends, Elizabeth Bryant and Linda Craig. Obsequies for Mrs. Brown will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at New Zion Grove Baptist Church, 404 Wallace Road—McAlmont Community, North Little Rock. Services entrusted to Walton GateWay Funeral Chapel, "Your Entrance to Eternity", 2405 South Gaines Street. No family hour but open visitation from 1-5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, (501) 376-7188. The family will receive friends Thursday and Friday at 2711 So. Gaines Street.
