Charles Edward "Spud" Jamison, 87, of Little Rock, passed away Sunday, December 8 2013. Born on July 23, 1926 in Pine Bluff to W.W. Jamison and Hera Pierce Jamison. Growing up as a child of the depression, Spud attended Little Rock High School until duty called and he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served with VC-12 as a Radioman 2nd Class flying missions in PBY aircraft in the Pacific Theater and earned his place in America's Greatest Generation. Following the war, he commenced a 65 year career in the hotel business serving in management positions at the LaFayette and Camelot Hotels and as General Manager at the Riverfront Hilton. Following his retirement in 1993, he continued to work part time at the Riverfront Wyndham Hotel until his death. During his career he served on boards including the Better Business Bureau, NLR Advertisement & Promotion, and Arkansas Lodging Association. Active in many organizations including the Optimist Club, Scimitar Shriners, Scottish Rite, Masonic Lodges, LR Razorback Club, and Skal. A long time member of the First United Methodist Church of LR, he managed the church's men's fast pitch soft ball team for years and won the ARK state championship. He was also of member of the Lakeside Country Club and an avid fisherman and duck hunter. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Fern; his son, CAPT Charles E. Jamison, Jr. USN (ret.) and wife Susan of Arlington, Tenn.; his daughter, Sharon Bressler and husband Carl of Hot Springs Village; his grandchildren, Jayme, Jessy, CJ, Josh and his wife Lauren, Melissa and Clint; and by his cats, Spud, and Jessy Bug. He leaves behind many friends including his Wyndham Riverfront family. The family would like to Thank the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Vincent's Hospital and Arkansas Hospice for their compassionate care. Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth on Thursday, December 12, and funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, December 13, at the funeral home.
