Edith Virginia Smith

Edith Virginia Smith, 85, of McGehee, Arkansas died Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Parkway Health Center in Little Rock. Virginia was born in Natchez, Mississippi on March 17, 1928 to the late James and Floy Davidson Chapman. She graduated as Salutatorian from Woodruff High School, in West Helena, Ark. Virginia worked alongside her husband in the State Farm Insurance Agency in West Helena. She was a longtime member of Richmond Hill Church of Christ in West Helena before moving to McGehee, Ark. Virginia loved gardening, canning vegetables and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Smith, Sr. and son, Harold Smith, Jr. Survivors include her sons David (Patti) Smith of McGehee, Ark.; John Mark Smith of North Little Rock, Ark.; Timothy (Melissa) Smith of Jonesboro, Ark. and James (Diane) Smith of Batesville, Ark.; daughter, Cynthia (Donald) Foster of Kennard, Texas; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. chapel service, Friday, December 13, 2013 at Roller Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena, Ark. with Benny Stephens officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in West Helena, Ark. Memorials may be made to Fishers of Men, c/o McGehee Church of Christ, 501 N 3rd Street, McGehee, Ark. 71654.
