Ernest Harding Salkeld Sr.

Ernest Harding Salkeld Sr., 91, of Searcy, Ark. passed away on Dec. 11, 2013 with his family and friends by his side. He was at peace and recently said, "When Jesus is ready, I know he'll be waiting for me at the corner". Ernest was retired from the Postal Service and served in the Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, E L Salkeld and Edna Galloway Salkeld; brothers, Frank and Wilmer Salkeld; sisters, Maxine Clough and Juanita Churchill. He is survived by his sweetheart and wife of 71 years, Reva Nell Salkeld; son, Ernest H Salkeld Jr (Sandra); sister, Amy Brooks; granddaughter, Cassie Weaver (Michael); and great grandchildren, Noah and Grace Weaver. Ernest was a long time member of First United Methodist Church. "PeeWee" as he was fondly called by family and friends enjoyed serving others and putting a smile on their face. He was active in several organizations, including Shriners, Woodmen of the World, White County Hospital Volunteers, in varying capacities including President, as well as serving on the White County Fair Board. A memorial service will be held at Rosewood Assisted Living in Flower Mound, Texas. Funeral service will be Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Searcy, Ark. with burial at White County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 5–7 p.m. at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, 411 East Race Ave, Searcy (501-268-3546).
