James S. Rogers III

James S. Rogers III, 78, entered into the arms of Jesus Sunday, December 15, 2013. He was born December 21, 1935 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to the late J.S. Rogers II and Mary Rogers. As a young boy, the family moved to Conway, Arkansas. He graduated high school in 1953 and attended Arkansas Teachers' College (University of Central Arkansas). He was called into the service for two years and discharged in 1961. In 1962, he married Annette Gibbs. They had one son, James Sterling Rogers IV. He was a member of Keo Baptist Church. He loved the land and farmed for 30 years. In 1983, Jim married Donna Nelson. He spent a year in Tennessee working and building bridges. They moved back to Keo, Arkansas in 1989 and went to work for Cobb Brothers / Cobb Gin Company until his retirement. Jim was a member of the England-Keo Deer Club. He loved to hunt and fellowship with his buddies. Also through the years, he did a lot of fishing and puttering around in his workshop, he loved working with his hands. Survivors include: his loving wife of 30 years, Donna; one son, Sterling; grandchildren: Jay and Ava; step-daughter: Vicki Jo Heitland; and many extended family and friends. Jim will be greatly missed by many people who respected and loved him. He was a loving husband, dad and granddad and a true friend to all who were lucky enough to know him. He had a kind and gentle loving spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorials be given to the American Cancer Society. A memorial service has been scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Keo Baptist Church, Keo, Arkansas.
