Roy Oxenrider

An angel visited Roy Oxenrider, age 81, of Bryant, and escorted him to Heaven on December 15, 2013. He was founder of Royal Plumbing, Heating and Air, Inc. Roy was a member of the Chosin Few National, Inc. and a life member of the Army Chapter Chosin Few. He served 13 years on the Board of Directors, representing his unit at Chosin, 1st Battallion 32nd Infantry, 7th Division, 10th Corp. Health forced him to refuse the last nomination, Purple Heart Association, The Queen's Own 32nd Infantry Association where he served several years as Quartermaster. He also served in the VFW, DAV and Korean War Veterans Association. He was preceded in death by an infant son, James LeRoy Oxenrider; parents, Leo and Flossie Oxenrider; brothers, Albert (Mary Ellen), Cyde (Carrie), William C. (Lolita), Calire (Jean), Dean, and Leo Jr.; sister-in-law, Margaret (Robert) and nephews, Darry and Barry Oxenrider. Roy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mildred Dodson Oxenrider and daughter, Tami Dee. Also surviving are extended family and adopted daughter, Kathy Thurston; Tami's brothers, James Hall and Mike Jolley; caregivers that became a part of Roy's family, Tonia Lang, Rodney Antes and Faye Brown and a brother, Robert "Bob" Oxenrider. A special thanks to the VA Home Health which were wonderful and caring people that worked hard trying to fulfill our needs; Cathy McLain whom we depended on so much; Saline Hospice whose love & dedication meant so much; Chaplain Kim Hammer's words & prayers of comfort helped give us strength to make it through this difficult time; to our family and friends scattered throughout the world—thank you for your prayers and phone calls that meant so much to Roy and his best friends for over 80 years, Richard and Ruth Kaufman of Muir, Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at New Rosemont Cemetery. Officiating will be Ernie Wotring and Phil Hinkson. The family will greet visitors at their home. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital or Arkansas Children's Hospital.
