Deloyd Rankin

Deloyd Rankin, 76, of Monticello, died in Little Rock, Ark., Dec. 27, 2013. He was born April 28, 1937 at Garrett Bridge Community in Lincoln County, Ark. His parents, Floyd L. Rankin and Millie Leonard Rankin and a son, Thomas M. Rankin preceded him in death. Mr. Rankin was a member of Assembly of God Church-Watson. He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, 6 months and 7 days; he was awarded a Bronze Star and several Air Force Commendation medals, he retired a Master Sergeant in 1976. He also retired in 2002 from Freeman's Soft Water Treatment Service. Mr. Rankin was awarded, The Charles Taylor Award by Federal Aviation Administration; a Certified Mechanic in aviation for over 50 years, and during that time without an incident or accident. He was also a Gideon. Survivors are his wife, Linda Rankin of Monticello, Ark.; a son, William F. Rankin of Piedmont, Okla.; two sisters, Dorothy L. Wright of James Store, Va. and DeWanda S. Rankin of Houston, Texas and a brother, DeWayne H. Rankin of Biloxi, Miss.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation held on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 from 1-2 p.m., Griffin Funeral Home Chapel prior to services at 2 p.m. Memorials in memory of Mr. Rankin may be to Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements are by Griffin Funeral Home, Dumas, Ark.
