Kathleen Nicholas, age 87, of Clarksville, Ark. passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013 at her home. She was born Aug. 31, 1926 in Clarksville to the late William Foddie and Naomi Callahan. Kathleen was a grand lady who touched many lives with her compassion and understanding. She was a graduate of Clarksville High School and owned and operated the Hardwicke Funeral Home for the past 64 years. She was involved in every facet of the funeral business, which left little time to join community organizations; however, she was very supportive and provided assistance for many Johnson County organizations. She was a member of the Clarksville First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by husbands, L. D. (Red) Hardwicke and Roady Nicholas and one sister, Justine (Baby Doll) Kirby. Survivors include three sisters; Jackie and husband Al Davis Sr. of Clarksville, Evaline and husband Hoyle Brown of California, Doris and husband Tom Curran of Florida; two brothers, Charles Callahan of Clarksville, Rodger and wife Doris Callahan of Clarksville; nephews and nieces, Al (Junebug) Davis of Clarksville, Gloria Stumbaugh of Lamar, John Walter Ayers of Fort Smith, Billy Ayers of Bentonville, Jane Ayers of Oregon, Kae Brown of California, and Brenda Laffin of California. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 at the Clarksville Presbyterian Church with burial in the Oakland Cemetery with Billy Usery officiating. Members of the Clarksville Fire Department will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
