C.W. "Bill" Golenor of Benton went to be with our Lord on December 31, 2012, he was born on April 14, 1927 in Malvern, AR, to the late Ernest & Lucille Golenor. He is predeceased by his wife of 63 years Joe Rene Shores Golenor. Also predeceased by his brothers Raymond Golenor and Eddie Golenor; three sisters, Marguerite Sider, Helen Herrin and Judy Brown. Survivors include one son, David M. Golenor (Patsy) of Hot Springs, two daughters, Kathy Shelton (Joey) of Benton and Mary Jayne Green (David) of Roland; four grandchildren, Michelle Koonce (John) of Gulf Shores, Ala., Jennifer Martin (Kenny) of De Queen, Rebecca Green of Bentonville and Chase Shelton of Benton; seven great-grandchildren, Alex, Jalyn, and Anna Koonce and Kayla, Kade, Maddie, and Jake Martin; three sisters, Marian Moseley (Kenneth) of Maumelle, Nancy Brown of Sardis, and Pat Foster (Curtis) of Little Rock; two brothers-in-law, Johnie Brown of Benton and Jeff McIlroy of Mabelvale, two sisters-in-law, Mae Golenor of Little Rock and Jimmy Meyer (Ron) of Mabelvale, and a host of nieces and nephews. Last but not least by his loving dog Abby of the home. Mr. Golenor served in the Naval Air Corp in WWII. He ran away from home to ride the ponies at Oaklawn at age 15, then when WWII broke out he wanted to serve his country and lied about his age and went in the Navy a year earlier than was legal. He ended up as a waist gunner on a B-17 bomber serving in the Pacific. He came out as a Disabled Vet spending a large portion of 8 years in the Army/Navy hospital in Hot Springs. He was retired from the US Postal Service as a rural letter carrier out of the Mabelvale Post Office. With his wife being the designer and him being the builder together they built many homes in the Little Rock and Mabelvale area. His love for his many brothers and sisters was always first and foremost. That love was extended to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren when they came along. Nothing made him happier than putting on a fish fry for the family. A good card game or a day at Oaklawn watching the ponies run were just a couple of his favorite hobbies. Mr. Bill's last years were made much happier by two special women his caregivers Becky Laurent and Shelley Robertson. They joked with him, made sure he had his ice cream, watched hours of his favorite TV program "Everybody Loves Raymond," and read the newspaper to him each and every day. Without them, he would not have been able to stay in his home and have Abby with him in his last days. Also, a special thanks go out to the Arkansas Hospice for getting him and the family through those last days. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations should be made to the Arkansas Hospice Association at 14 Parkstone Circle North Little Rock, Ark. 72113, or the Disabled American Veterans at P. O. Box 1620 No. Little Rock, Ark. 72115. Arrangements are by Dial and Dudley Funeral Home, 4212 Highway 5 North, Bryant, Arkansas. 847-9099.
