John E. Selph

John E. Selph, age 86, of Hooks, Texas, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013, in a Texarkana hospital. Mr. Selph was born in Manning, Arkansas, August 29, 1926. He was a retired machinist from Red River Army Depot and a lifetime member of Myrtle Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Margaret L. (Hutcheson) Selph in 2009. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Terry and Lenda Selph of New Boston, Texas; one daughter and special family friend, Lola Selph and Stan Yates of Little Rock, Arkansas; two brothers: Robert Selph of Kerens, Texas, and Marvin Selph of Sparkman, Arkansas; one sister: Minta Maffitt of Hot Springs, Arkansas; two granddaughters; three great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Myrtle Springs Baptist Church, Hooks, Texas, with Rev. Michael Hardaway officiating. Burial will be at Myrtle Springs Cemetery under the direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.
