John Joseph Purkiewicz

John Joseph Purkiewicz, 84, of Greenbrier, formerly of Mt. View, passed from this life on Monday, January 7, 2013. John was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo. He resided in Fountain Valley, Calif. and retired with 30 years of service from Rockwell International in Seal Beach, Calif., where he was a manager in the corporate computing security. John was an avid lover of animals, he loved model trains, traveling and oil painting. He also enjoyed cooking and outdoor grilling. After retiring he moved to Mt. View, where he enjoyed cattle ranching, prior to moving to Greenbrier, Ark. John attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. He will be missed for his unique personality. John was preceded in death by his parents John Joseph and Catherine Purkiewicz, his first wife of 53 years, Bette; a great grand daughter, Isabella Anne Marie Alcala and his brother James Purkiewicz. Survivors include his wife of ten years Carol; son Rob and wife Susan of League City, Texas; daughters: Suzanne Smith of Santa Ana, Calif., Mona Hout and her husband Sam of Laguna Hills, Calif. and Jaime Seranella and husband Michael of Chicago, Ill.; eleven grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, January 10, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier, Ark. Interment will follow at Sunny Land Cemetery near Mt. View, Ark.
