Marcelee Cooper, age 85, of Jacksonville, passed away on January 7, 2013. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville and the Faith Sunday School Class. She is survived by one son, Raymond Earl Cooper (Tena) of Bryant; one daughter, Marsha Ann Moffitt (Alan) of Jacksonville; one sister, Earlene Elkins Shoptaw of Little Rock; four grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Rev. Delton Jesse Cooper; her parents, John Earl and Gwinnie Lena Elkins of Sheridan, and one brother, Carlton "Bud" Elkins of Pine Bluff. Mrs. Cooper was a retired Southern Baptist minister's wife and a homemaker. She spent 40+ years serving alongside her husband and many capacities of ministry in several churches around Arkansas, including Almyra Baptist Church and Wilson First Baptist Church, where she taught women in Sunday School, led the Women's Missionary Union, and sang in the church choir. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Walter officiating. Interment will follow in Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, January 10, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Dr. Mark Smith and the staff of Woodland Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation in Jacksonville for the wonderful care and compassion they provided to Marcelee over the last two and a half years. The family would also like to thank the medical team of UAMS and the staff of Hospice Home Care and Odyssey Hospice for the care they provided her during her final days.
