Jack Dempsey Conder, 85, of Bryant, passed away December 23, 2012. Jack was born to Charles and Mertie Conder on March 23, 1927 in Narrows, Kentucky. Jack loved Christmas and playing Santa for family, friends, nursing homes and children's homes. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping with family and helping others. Jack was a devoted family man and husband. He was Baptist in faith. Jack served in the military for 23 years. He was in the Navy, Air Force and Seabees. He fought in the Battle of Okinawa during WWII, Korea and two tours in Vietnam, 1966-1968. Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Ann Hilson Conder and nine brothers and sisters. He leaves three children; Richard O. Scott (Stella) of Marshall, Ronald Scott (deceased wife Linda) of Omaha, Nebraska, Judy C. Scott Blacklock (David L.) of Bryant, nine grandchildren; Jeff Scott, Chuck Scott (Vee), Chris Scott (Melissa), Aaron Scott (Angel), Cory Scott (Christine), Justin Scott, Robert Blacklock, Alma "Sissy" White (Zach), Michael Blacklock (Wendi), 18 great grandchildren, sister-in-law; Eva Meeks, niece and nephew; Janice and Paul Hartman, two great-nieces; Briana and Carol Hartman and one great,-great-niece. Jack also leaves nieces and nephews in Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana. Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the Gazebo at Pinecrest Memorial Park , 7401 Highway 5 North, Alexander, Arkansas. Rev. Edgar Sutton will officiate. Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 501-455-1067, will be handling the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Muscular Dystrophy/Myasthenia Gravis at MDA, 204 Executive Court #208, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205.
