MARY AGNES KNOTT KOUBEK went to be with her heavenly father on Jan. 2, 2013, after a brief illness. Mary was born on Feb. 12, 1926, to George and Mabel Knott and grew up in Jonesboro, Ark. She attended Arkansas State University, where she met her husband, Al James Koubek, who was attending Artillery Training at the school during WWII. Mary and Al shared many happy years together in Pocahontas, Ark., where Al was owner and operator of Pocahontas Frozen Food Lockers and Mary was a homemaker and community volunteer. During those years her love of Girl Scouts and music led her to be a troop leader and piano teacher for many years. Mary's life was all about giving and serving others, especially her family. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sister Louise Creek, brother Thomas Knott, both of Jonesboro, Ark. and brother George B. Knott Jr., of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Kaye Koubek, son, Frank James Koubek, both of Little Rock, and numerous family members, who live to cherish her memory. Mary's was a life well lived and the family is grateful to God for her long presence in their lives. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in her beloved hometown of Pocahontas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Arkansas Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
