Bill Davenport, 86, of Pine Bluff passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born March 13, 1926 in Little Rock, Arkansas, he was a son of the late Robert Smith and Eula Gray Davenport. He was reared and received his early education in Texarkana, Texas, graduating from Texarkana High School. He attended College of the Ozarks School of Pharmacy and graduated from the University of Arkansas, School of Pharmacy in 1955. Mr. Davenport enlisted in the United States Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. Then during the Korean War, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. In 1950, he married Betty MCCuller in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Together they had four children and shared many memories in nearly sixty-three years of marriage. Mr. Davenport was a pharmacist for Davis Hospital and Jefferson Regional Medical Center. In 1964, he opened his own drug store, Cherry Street Drugs, where he was the owner and pharmacist for almost thirty years, until his retirement in 1993. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Eula May Hay and two grandsons, Blake Kemp and Bradley Kemp. His survivors include his wife, Betty Davenport, of Pine Bluff; one daughter, Starr Kemp (Jake) of McGehee; three sons, Kim Davenport, of Pine Bluff, Clay Davenport (Linda) of Woodlawn, and Todd Davenport (Darlene) of Pine Bluff; two granddaughters, Bridget Clavet (Chris), of McGehee and Brandy Barnett, of Woodlawn; four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Garrett Clavet of McGehee, and Hunter and Lauren Barnett, of Woodlawn; one great-great-grandchild, Bradley Gray McCoy, of McGehee; and one sister, Fay Hardman, of Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Funeral Service will be 1:00PM, Saturday, January 19, 2013, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Mike Snell officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, January 18, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Robinson's. Friends may sign the online register at www.ralphrobinsonandson.com.
