Jamie Russell, 81, of Hope, Arkansas went to be with his Lord Sunday, January 20, 2013, in his home, surrounded by family. Jamie was born May 9, 1931 to Clifford and Cora Russell. Mr. Russell was a loving husband, father, brother and mentor to many. He worked as a farmer, county official, business owner and was employed at Myers Bakery and Yerger Middle School. He loved working the farm with his special friend Frank and having coffee with friends and playing dominoes. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Century Bible Sunday School Class for 52 years. He was also a member of Woodmen of the World Lodge # 28 and was retired from the Arkansas National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Gregory Byron Russell; granddaughter, Stephanie Susanne Butler and great-great-granddaughter, Bentley Grace Rodden. Jamie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce; two daughters, Janice Russell and Sue Gilbert and husband Billy of Hope; five granddaughters, Lauri Mathis and husband Thomas of Hope, Arkansas, Jami Crow and husband Jason of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Samantha Stroud of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Billie Tallman and husband Andy of Reno, Nevada and Barb McLeod and husband Arick of Soldotna, Alaska; one grandson-in-law, Charles Butler of Sheridan, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Steven and Seslie Rodden of Wheeling, West Virginia, Jordan and Brett Rodden of Texarkana, Arkansas and Hunter and Drake Mathis of Hope, Arkansas and Abigail and Adyson Crow of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Brianna Butler of Sheridan, Arkansas and Aric Tallman of Reno, Nevada; great-great-granddaughter, Makiah Chambers of Texarkana, Arkansas; brother and sister-in-law, Billy Grant and Evelyn Russell, Dallas, Texas and sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Don Jones of Nashville, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Earl Ray and Brenda Murphy of Carrolton, Texas and nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and special friend, Jimmy Gladden. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 22, 2013 between the hours of 5-7 p.m. at Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home. Services will be Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating, interment to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home.
