Verla Mae Ward

Verla Mae Hendrickson Ward, 91, of Sherwood passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. She was born February 13, 1921 in Guy to parents, Philip and Clara Hendrickson. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, R. L. Hendrickson and Walton Hendrickson, an infant sister, Betty Sue Hendrickson, husband, Elva E. Ward, and infant son, Edwin Lee Ward. She is survived by two sisters, Charlene Young of El Dorado and Nelda Jones of Sherwood, and one brother, Ken Hendrickson of Fayetteville; her three children, daughters, Donna Akins (Roger) of Sherwood and Phyllis Hayworth (Ron) of Neosha, Mo, and son, Nevin Ward (Carol) of Wichita Falls, Texas; seven grandchildren, Russell Akins (Lisa), Karesa Hawkins (Stacy), Amber Keithley (Steven), Chad Hayworth (Jennifer), Phillip Ward, Justin Hayworth (Callie), and Janetta Harris (Sam); 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Ms. Ward was a charter member of Berean Baptist Church and loved gardening. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Berean Baptist Church, 5512 Pike Avenue, North Little Rock, Ark,. 72118. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
