Lavelle Clarence "Sonny" Nutt Jr.

Lavelle Clarence "Sonny" Nutt, age 81, of Lewisville, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013, following a brief illness. Mr. Nutt was born November 2, 1931, in Eudora, Arkansas, to L.C. and Alice McDuffie Nutt. He graduated from Ouachita Baptist University and was a Korean conflict Veteran stationed at Fort Riley Kansas. Mr. Nutt worked for American Airlines before moving to Lewisville and becoming owner/operator of Lester's Grocery Store. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lewisville. Mr. Nutt was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth L. Nutt; and sisters, Joyce Manes and Mary Bootten. He is survived by his sons, Ed Nutt and wife, Jodie; and Ralph Nutt and wife, Leslie, all of Lewisville, Ark.; four grandchildren, Melanie Ladner and husband, Kelton of Magnolia, Ark.; Stephen Nutt and wife, Lindsay of Lewisville, Ark.; James Nutt and Ashley Nutt of Nashville, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, Bailey and Logan Ladner of Magnolia, Ark.; and Luke and Lainey Nutt of Lewisville, Ark.; and brother-in-law, Mack Lester and wife, Melinda of Lewisville, Ark. Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville, Ark., with Bro. Howard Cole officiating, under the direction of Smith Funeral Homes of Stamps, Ark. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, Ark. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Lewisville, Ark., or First United Methodist Church of Lewisville, Ark.
