Kenneth Woodrow Hayden, age 94 of Jacksonville shook hands with Jesus May 31, 2013. Mr. Hayden had been hospitalized at the Arkansas Hospice Ward at St. Vincent's in Little Rock. He was born December 13, 1918 in Hannibal, Missouri to the late Gene and Zadie Hayden. On 11 January 1941, Mr. Hayden entered the Army Air Corp, soon to be the U.S. Air Force. In his 26 years of service to his country he saw combat duty in WWII flying as a B-17 crew member receiving many awards including the Distinguished Flying Cross. He also saw duty as maintenance support in the Korean and Vietnam wars. Mr. Hayden married Maysel McAlpin his wife now of 69 years on December 11, 1944. They are members of Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville. He is survived by his wife, Maysel Hayden of the home; four children, Joe Hayden of Jacksonville, Brenda Sutton of Bruce, Mississippi, Karen Madison of Anchorage, Alaska and Twila Hayden of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Pete Hayden of Rockford, Illinois. Please join the family for funeral services on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ronald Raines officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the funeral home.
