Ethelene Burton

Ethelene Burton was born April 3, 1942 in Carlisle, Arkansas to the late Ethel Sears and Elmer Allen. She was raised in the Baptist Church and educated in the Carlisle and Lonoke school systems. She was one of the first African-Americans to integrate Lonoke's garment industry. She retired after 21 years from Remington Arms Co., Inc. She was a "Woman of the Word." Her favorite Scriptures were: Titus 3:5-6 and Hebrews 12:14. She was consistent in encouraging others and sharing with them the Word of God. Ethelene died on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the age of 71. She is survived by her sons, Marty (Angelique) and Stewart Douglas; her siblings, Kenneth Sears (Pat), Lawrence Allen (Phyllis and a host of relatives, extended family and beloved friends. Ethelene was preceded in death by her son, Darrell Anthony; sister, Hartene Harshaw and her brothers, Clevon Allen and Roy Bland. Visitation will be held Friday evening, June 7, from 6-8 p.m., at Allison Presbyterian Church, 922Wright Ave., Little Rock. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 8, at 11 a.m., at New Calvary Temple Church of God in Christ, 1120 Bishop Lindsey Ave., North Little Rock. Internment will take place at Carlisle Cemetery, Carlisle, Ark.
