Nancy Elizabeth Mitchell

Little Rock native, Nancy Elizabeth Mitchell, 58, died May, 31 2013 following a yearlong battle with cancer. A 1973 graduate of Central High School, Nancy, received a degree in Ibero American Studies from Southern Methodist University (1977) where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Nancy received Master degrees in International Management from the American School of International Management in Phoenix, Ariz. (1978) and Art History from the University of Texas (1983). Nancy later took accounting courses at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and obtained her license as a Certified Public Accountant. Nancy lived in Washington, D.C. for many years enjoying a career in an import/export business which led to extensive travel in Spain. When an international financial downturn forced major changes at Nancy's workplace she brought her love for travel and many fond memories of Spain back to Little Rock accepting a job with the State of Arkansas. In 2003 Nancy joined the accounting firm of Mann, Hasson, and Company where she enjoyed her work as a CPA and most especially the many friendships she formed there. Nancy is survived by her brothers, Maury Mitchell (Lindy), David Mitchell (Peggy), and her brother-in-law, Dr. Brett Davis. Her nieces and nephews include, Maury, III, Hamilton, Nancy, David, Jr., Meredith, and Will Mitchell and Stockley, Maggie, and Mary Maude Davis. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Betty and H. Maurice Mitchell and a sister, Mimi Davis. Nancy was a lifelong member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. She served as Treasurer of the Arkansas Chapter of the National Society of Colonial Dames for many years. Nancy was a thoughtful, kind person. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends. The Mitchell family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Thomas Sneed and the nurses at Arkansas Oncology, Arkansas Hospice, The Visiting Angels, especially Nikki, Felicia and Stacy, her friends at the Mann, Hasson and Company for their kindness and caring, and to lifelong friends, Josie Osborne and Susan Borne. Family interment will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013, 11:30 a.m. at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church Columbarium with the Reverend Lynn Lindsey officiating. A gathering for family and friends will follow from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 1815 North Tyler Street, Little Rock, Ark.
