Elisha H. Barber, known to all as Sam, 78 of Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Sam was born in Mena, Arkansas on April 4, 1935, to the late Elisha Barber and Viola Roberts Barber. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Barber, and Russel Barber, and two sisters, Leda Barber Short, and Arletha Barber Rodriquez. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Davis Barber; one daughter, Linda B. Stipsky; one son Mark H. Barber; two grandsons, Jonathan R. Stipsky and wife Regina Cortez Stipsky of Little Rock, Ark.; Jason C. Stipsky and wife Stephanie Shaulis Stipsky; one great-grand daughter, Taylor Ann Stipsky of Bryant, Ark; three sisters; Helen Philpot of Mena, Ark; Allie Jo Mills of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Hester Childs of Hamilton, Ohio; and a multitude of friends. Sam graduated from Mena High School in 1953, where he found the love of his life, Joyce G. Davis. Starting their life together, Sam began his career as a deliveryman for baked goods in Huntsville, Alabama; where he could combine his love of salesmanship and promptness. With Sam's outgoing personality, and love of conversation, it was easy to say that he never met a stranger. Often times he could be found at malls and supermarkets adding to his long list of friendly acquaintances. With such talents, Sam found himself advancing to become Archway Cookie's Regional Sales Manager of Dallas, TX; where he later retired before returning to Little Rock, Arkansas. Sam was a devoted family man and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He and his best buddies forever Taylor, (Sam's only great-granddaughter) could often be found playing in the middle of the living room floor with her latest and greatest toys. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., immediately followed by the memorial service at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home 13801 Chenal Parkway Little Rock, Ark. (501) 224-8300. Sam's nephew, David Baker, will officiate with Immanuel Baptist Church's Senior Pastor, Gary Hollingsworth. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at Pine Crest Cemetery in Alexander. The family asks that memorials be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Missions Program, Arkansas Children's Hospital, or the charity of your choice. Online guestbook:www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/chenal.
