Thomas E. Plummer

Thomas E. Plummer, (US Army, Ret.), age 84, of Malvern, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013. He was born in Poyen, Arkansas on December 23, 1928 to the late George Thomas Plummer and Birdie Wilcox Plummer. Reared and educated in Grant County, Thomas joined the United States Army as a young man, and served his country for over twenty years before retiring as Sergeant First Class. He was the recipient of three Bronze Stars, two Army Commendation Medals, one National Defense Service Medal, four Vietnam Service Medals, one Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, two Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Crosses, an Expert Infantry Badge, and six Good Conduct Medals. Thomas was stationed in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. His family withstood the rigors of Army life and dealt with the constant "uprooting" by being privileged to live in many places throughout the years, including: Ft. Hood, Texas, Germany, Ft. Ord, California, and Ft. Riley Kansas. Thomas was a Baptist by denomination. He is survived by three daughters, Brenda Plummer Gonzales of Texas, Beverly Plummer McHenry of Kansas, and Bobbie Plummer Parker of Donaldson, Arkansas; by 16 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. Thomas was also preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Plummer Baghai, and by nine siblings. Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be held at ten o'clock Saturday morning, June 8, 2013, in the Rockport Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of J.A. Funk Funeral Home. Visitation at the funeral home will begin at nine o'clock Saturday morning, immediately followed by a procession to the cemetery at nine 45.
