Ann Dorsett Ecoff

Ann Dorsett Ecoff, 64, died peacefully on May 26, 2013 at her home in Jackson, Tenn. She was born Oct. 7, 1948 in St. Louis, Mo., to George Lehner Dorsett and Cora Elliot (Pat) Matheny Dorsett. Ann grew up in Camden, Ark. and graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1966. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Edward Dorsett, and is survived by her husband, Harry Ecoff Sr.; and her children, Charles David Slaton, Ann Elizabeth Slaton Stevenson and Daniel Hamilton Ecoff; her step-children, Harry Ecoff Jr. and Roy Ecoff; her grandchildren, David and Joshua Slaton, and Olivia, Emily and Aidan Stevenson; and step-grandchildren, Andrew and Katelyn Ecoff. Ann received her B.A in English from Lambuth University, and her M.S. in Education and M.F.A in Creative Writing from the University of Memphis. She was an English Professor at Lambuth from 1995 until she was diagnosed with cancer in July 2012. Lambuth was her second home and she loved her fellow faculty and students immensely. She felt honored to teach her beloved language and share her love of poetry. Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend. She was a published poet and passionate reader, and loved to wiggle her toes in the sand at the beach.
