Imogene Duvall White

Imogene DuVall White, 86, passed away on June 10, 2013 at Heartland Rehabilitation and Care Facility in Benton, Arkansas. She was born January 22, 1927 in Grant County to the late E.H. and Ida DuVall. Mrs. White who was preceded in death by her husband, Tom White, who was a lifelong resident of Saline and Grant counties. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Wilbur DuVall, Curtis DuVall, Joe DuVall, Richard DuVall, Grady DuVall and sister, Inez Ramsey. She is survived by daughter Susan (Dick) Tucker of Benton, son Randy White of Washington D.C., grandson Richie Tucker of Benton, granddaughter Tiffany (Zack) Talbert of Bauxite, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. White was strong in her faith and worked many years both as a volunteer and an employee at First United Methodist Church in Benton. She loved politics and worked at the state legislature when it was in session. She was instrumental in starting community theatre in Benton and performed in many plays. She loved writing poetry and telling Christmas stories for her beloved Talisman Club and others. If there was a celebration at her church, she was usually in charge of the program and theme. She loved every minute of it! She was a lifelong member of Benton FUMC United Methodist Women. When Mrs. White was not working or volunteering at the church, she was busy in the lives of her two children. She loved hosting events for her children and for her many friends. It was rare for there to be a week when she wasn't "having a party". She was very fond of her hometown, Tull, and was a regular at social events, including Old Folks Singing, held annually in the community. She often shared stories of growing up in Sheridan where her father, E.H. DuVall was a state legislator and a county judge. As a youngster growing up in Grant County, she was an academic scholar and a very proud graduate of Bauxite High School, class of 1945. Mrs. White loved her children and grandchildren as much as anyone ever has. To say she thought her twin grandchildren, Richie and Tiffany, "hung the moon" would be an understatement. Mrs. White was an avid reader, thespian and a tireless community volunteer. She was a loving wife, aunt and grandmother, a loyal friend and "one heck of a mom". She will be missed by all who knew her.
