AUBREY HARVEY WARREN, U.S. Navy Retired Master Chief Petty Officer, of Little Rock, passed away on Nov. 2, 2012 at the age of 94. Born on May 27, 1918 in Black Springs, Ark., "Chief" died peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was a wonderful man, kind and generous brother and friend, great father and perfect grand-dad. His family and friends will forever keep his memory and love in their hearts. Chief Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Franklin and Ida Barnard Warren, siblings Dewey, Gladys W. Duke, Glenn, Bonnie W. Herring and Faye W. Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Yvonne Davis Warren, and his infant son, Aubrey Larry Warren. Survivors include two sons and their families: Fredric H. Warren, M.D. (Nancy) of New Orleans, La. and Roger Daniel Warren, M.D. (Mateney) of Fayetteville, N.C. Also surviving him are grandchildren, Keith W. Landon (Robert) and Aubrey W. Burns (Jason), Elizabeth, Katherine and Margaret Warren, as well as, great-grandchildren, Kirby and Claire Landon, Hunter, Brody and Cooper Burns. "Chief" grew up on a farm near his birthplace, graduated from Norman High School and joined the U.S. Navy in 1938. At the time of his retirement, he was the Senior Chief Petty Officer in the entire U.S. Navy. In 1955, he was selected to be the Navy Father of the Year. During his time in the service, he served on seven ships, traveled to six continents, sailed around the world and traveled all over the United States but always regarded Arkansas as home. He was decorated 16 times. On his last tour of duty aboard the USS Helena, he served as Chief of Missile Operations in the Regulus Program. After retirement from the Navy in 1958, he returned to Arkansas, raising his family in Mena and Little Rock while working a second career with and retiring from the U.S. Postal Service. He was the oldest member of Calvary Baptist Church in Little Rock, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the 40 Year Club in Mena, Ark. Graveside services with full military honors will be held on June 26, 2013 at 10 a.m. Interment will be beside his beloved Yvonne at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine Ridge, Ark.
