Charles Preston Cross Jr.

Charles Preston Cross Jr., 95, of McNeil, Ark., passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at his home in McNeil. He was born on Jan. 24, 1918, in Magnolia to the late Charles Preston Cross Sr. and Ethel (Pittman) Cross. He was a veteran in the United States Air Force serving during World War II, a self-employed farmer, a member of Central Baptist Church, past president of the Magnolia Rotary Club, and past president of Farm Bureau. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Cross; grandson, Eric Cross; and a sister, Ruth Gibbons. Charles is survived by his three sons, Preston Cross of Conway, Ark. and his children, Charlie Cross and wife Amy and his step-children Sam and Lindsey Albin all of Magnolia; Sam Cross and wife, Jessica, of Russellville, Ark.; Bill Cross and wife, Susan, of Pleasant Hope, Mo. and their children Benjamin Cross and wife, Ashley, of Gallatin, Tenn., and James Cross of New Orleans, La.; David Cross and wife Laura of McNeil, Ark. and their children, Dustin Cross and Kalia Calvin of McNeil, Ark., Ashley Cross of Fayetteville, Ark.; daughter, Ann Compton, and husband, Greg, and their children, Ryan Compton and Casey Compton all of Troy, Va.; and caregivers, Marie Carter and Mable Phillips. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mike Seabaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia City Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Visitation with the family will be Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
