Gretchen Boyd

GRETCHEN BOYD, 83, of Little Rock, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, in Little Rock, Ark. She was born in El Dorado, Ark. on June 23, 1929 to the late James Aubrey and Martha Clarke Boyd. Gretchen developed polio in 1939 and was a courageous survivor of this disease. Gretchen was a member of the band at Little Rock High School. After graduating from Little Rock Central High School in 1946, Gretchen worked as an Accounting Clerk for MacMillan Bloedel Containers in Little Rock. Before moving her membership to Trinity United Methodist Church, she attended Asbury Methodist Church and was a member of the "Win One Sunday School Class." She was also a member of the Shannon-Robken Circle #6. Gretchen was an avid fan of the Arkansas Razorback Baseball team and listened to every game that was broadcast on the radio. Gretchen also loved to read and could read as many as five books in one week. Gretchen was known to listen to symphony music on the radio every day. Gretchen's close friends include Barbara Webb and Mary Margaret Mills who were devoted to her care, especially in the past few weeks. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 at Pinecrest Memorial Park, 7401 Highway 5 North, Alexander, Ark. 72002.
