Shirley A. Lowery, age 79, of Royal, Ark., took her Heavenly flight on Saturday, June 22, 2013. Shirley was born to the late Emma and Etheldreth James Spillman on August 11, 1933 in Liittle Rock. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, William L. "Sam" Lowery; her daughter, Sharon Butler and her son, William L. Lowery Jr. Shirley is survived by her sons, Mark Lowery of Maumelle and Chris Lowery (Andrea) of Layton, Utah; her daughters, Mary Eddleman (Lew) of Carlisle and Debbie Fox (Kelly) of DeWitt; her brothers, Robert F. Spillman of Houston, Texas and E.J. Spillman of Honolulu, Hawaii; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Eason (Jake) of Stuttgart, Ark.; Erin Lowery of Yorktown, Va.; Andrew Lowery of Baltimore, Md.; Amber Fox and Nick Staton of DeWitt; and one great-granddaughter, Devin Eason of Stuttgart. Shirley is also survived by numerous foster children that she was a parent to during their first days of life. Shirley was a member of Center Fork Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Ark. She and her husband were charter members of Kellogg Valley Baptist Church in North Little Rock. Shirley served on the Pulaski County Special School District Board of Directors for eight years. A celebration of Shirley's life will be Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 1:30pm at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth, 5800 W. 12th St., Little Rock, Ark. (501) 661-9111 with Brother Ben Leonard and Brother Lynn Baxter officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. A visitation will be Monday, June 24, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff of Chambers Nursing Home in Carlisle and the wonderful nurses at North Metro Hospital ICU for their care and compassion.
