Calvin A. Jones, 86, of Pine Bluff, died Saturday, June 22, 2013. He was born June 30, 1926 in Alexander City, Alabama, son of Charlie and Ida Willis Jones. Mr. Jones was reared and received his early education in Dadeville, Alabama. He worked many years in pipeline construction before working for TransCanada Pipeline, where he retired as a district superintendent. Mr. Jones had a very deep faith and a very close walk with his Lord and Savior. After his retirement, he moved to Pine Bluff and became a devoted member of First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Dadeville Masonic Lodge #71 F&AM, where he received his 50 year pin. Upon moving to Pine Bluff, Mr. Jones became very active in the community along with his church involvement. He volunteered at Neighbor to Neighbor, Jefferson Regional Medical Center and the Literacy Council of Jefferson County. He was known for selling 1000 tickets to the "business breakfast" for the Literacy Council. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Fred, Willis, Ernest and Melvin Jones; and sister, Mary Grice. Survivors include his loving wife, Myra Knight "Nell" Jones, whom he married January 20, 1953 in Richmond, Indiana; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer (Hurst) and Michael Billings of Pine Bluff; three grandchildren, Jimmy Hurst and his wife, Margie, of Huntsville, Alabama, Jason Wood and his wife, Debbie, of Rogers and Justin Wood of Anchorage, Alaska; four great-grandchildren, Zack Hurst, Alex Hurst, Clintin Gray and Bradley Wood; nine nieces, one nephew and his loving canine companion, Abbie. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Cossey and Brother Glenn Knight, nephew of Calvin and Nell Jones, officiating. Burial will follow in Griffin-Leggett Forest Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Alexander, Arkansas by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors of Pine Bluff. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at First Immanuel.
